I said I wanted an edible garden, and this is my proper start on that. I was told herbs are cheap, easy and quick to grow, and stores like to sell all these fancy plant starters now that is spring.
Funnily enough, they had a "set" of three herbs that sold for 4,55 euros, but the individual ones cost 1 euro each. So I gamed the system... by 1,55. A penny saved is a penny earned, or so they say.
- 29/03/23: Planted. Currently staying indoors and giving them water and heat from the modem. The best thing about pots with holes is that they pee when they had enough water
- 03/04/23: Yakko and Wakko are starting to sprout and peek their little heads off the soil. Just like the characters they're named after, Dot is the little sister and she hasn't sprouted yet.
- 05/04/23: Yakko and Wakko are progressing adequately. You need to look close, but Dot is slowly peeking out of the soil :)
- 09/04/23: I got a very pleasant surprise: the three are growing out a lot and seeking the sunlight! I'm very happy with them.
- 13/04/23: Oh no! Yakko is starting to wilt :( maybe he got too much sunlight? I watered the three and moved them indoors again, until Yakko recovers.
- 18/04/23: Yakko seemed to recover, at least a significant part, but now he's wilting again. I watered with water steeped in worm compost, and hopefully that'll help. The other two are doing great - Dot is even bigger than Yakko now!
- 29/04/23: Transplanted Dot in a bigger container - a terracota pot which is big enough to hopefully be her forever home. I think I messed up the transplantation tho - was Dot not strong enough? Did I do wrong trying to separate her into parts so they would all have a chance to grow? Only time will tell.
- 06/05/23: Dot seems to be doing fine! She's growing different leaves now :) I read that a plant's first leaves will look "generic" and then they'll grow leaves proper of their species... so they're like the plant equivalent of baby teeth, right? I should repot Yakko and Wakko too, but I ran out of soil and sometimes I like to take a nibble out of Wakko, which will be harder once I move him to a bigger pot.
